Doodles

There is much controversy among psychologists as to why people doodle. Many suggest that during a negotiation should a party begin to doodle, his interest is waning. He is expressing that he prefers not to communicate with his counterpart. They go on to say that because the doodler actually has much praise for his creative work, this further lessens direct contact. Other analysts suggest the doodler is actually bored and because of this, wants to be elsewhere, hence he starts to doodle. Regardless as to why one might doodle, the following doodles have been agreed upon as to what they mean:

Figure 12, disclosing heavy and angular strokes shows repressed feelings of anger.
The airy and rounded rhythmic strokes in figure 13 reveal a desire to escape from reality.

A monogram or similar design penned in figure 14 testifies to one who is egotistical.
A design repeated many times as in figure 15 indicates frustration.
In figure 16, squares or other geometric designs signify a practical nature.
Heavy-pressured strokes as in figure 17 expose an obsessive nature.
The light-pressured strokes depicted in figure 18 betoken a weak will.
Odd shapes or designs as demonstrated in figure 19 displays a neurotic or pathological weakness related to an inability to properly communicate with others.
An arrow or arrows as in figure 20 demonstrate one calculating, perhaps being cool temperamentally.

A separate square or squares as in figure 21, disclose the practical.
Geometrically linked squares as in figure 22 reveal having concrete, practical concepts.
The tightly drawn whirl penned in figure 23 testifies to being tense, anxious.
The three-dimensional forms being doodled in figure 24 display having a probing intellect.
Sharp, jagged lines expose resentment, even hostility. These doodles are often done during arguments (see figure 25:)
A triangle betokens having a strong, well-directed mind in adults, exceptional intelligence in children under six (see figure 26:)
The curved figures in figure 27 are indicative of one easy going, good-natured.
A circle as in figure 28 discloses closing up, warding off the outside world.
Figure 29, displays steps and ladders, indicating the desire to climb up in the world.
Figure 30, has a spiders web design, disclosing one preoccupied with self but seeking to widen horizons.
Random helter skelter figures without clear-cut patterns as seen in figure 31 are indicative of one being prone to emotional conflict, confused in personality.
The tick marks in figure 32 betoken one concentrating on business at hand.

The frames that were penned in figure 33, signify having a feeling of fatalism, of being caught and frustrated by sex and life. Notice that in figure 34, there is repetition, demonstrating the ability to enjoy daily routine work. Glancing back at figure 15,

where a design is repeated many times, discloses frustration. This is because a design is something that the writer is creating, therefore repetition is disclosing a personal view, the repetition of, showing the frustration. In figure 34, the repeated figure is a number, which is standard, having a specific pattern, an objective structure, hence this particular repetition is not a subjective creation, therefore, a number drawn frequently indicates the ability to enjoy routine work.
In figure 35, we see short confused dashes, displaying the dynamic, colorful, forceful, creative, restless personality.
A three dimensional shape as in figure 36, exposes one being good at taking the easy way out.
Jagged lines as in figure 37 betoken one aggressive and defensive.
A figure in a frame as in figure 38 tells of one believing in safety first.
The involved design in figure 39 demonstrates being shrewd, diplomatic, afraid of persecution.
Figure 40 shows crossbars showing one who is instinctively rebellious, pugnacious.
Linked circles as in figure 41 reveal a logical, deductive, consequential character.

The spiders web without links penned in figure 42, discloses one who is systematic, analytical, able to organize.
Animal doodlers are usually nature lovers, depending upon the type of animal drawn (see figure 43).

Hidden and not so hidden hostilities are shown in doodles. Weapons,
vicious animals and hanging men show the doodlers true thoughts. One who doodles a house shows whether or not the doodler wants to intercommunicate. If the house has no doors or windows, the doodler is aloof.
If there is a doorway and a doorknob the doodler wants company (see figure 44).
If there is smoke coming out of the chimney, this is a warm active home (see figure 45).
Small vertical lines that have on their sides horizontal lines that are surrounded by a large blank area, which may be parallel or met at right angles, disclose introversion, one who feels victimized by the overbearing world and seeks to flee (see figure 46). Rounded cloud-like shapes as in figure 47, their curves lying within each other, display your sensitivity to the needs of others, and that you are pliable, even in difficult situations. In addition, some daydreaming may be expected.

When a vehicle of transportation is doodled, particularly a boat, train or plane, though this shows a desire to travel, it often shows an underlying feeling of anxiety that you believe ought to be changed, hence the desire to go elsewhere.

How to Find A Phenomenal Web Design Firm!

In today’s competitive landscape of e-commerce, having a professional, functional, and user-friendly web location is essential in order to avoid being lost in the internet dust. This could be done internally for some companies; however, unless the designer has a strong background in web design from an SEO and marketing standpoint, the website may not function as efficiently as it could. In most cases, hiring a professional internet architect is a better option. Now, finding the best one out of all the firms that advertise on the internet and other media can be intimidating, so sit back and read a few tips here about how to find an excellent web design firm.

The Search Process

Other than through recommendations from other companies and advertisements, it would not be unusual to think that the best starting point to begin a search would be to search service listings and run a Google search for design firms. There is actually a better way that can be more beneficial, depending on individual company requirements and preferences. Actually looking at the internet locations of competitors that look professional, useable, and offer what a company wants in a website can generate a list of potential firms to contact.

Most design firms put their logo and contact information on the footer at the bottom of the Home Page, although it could be almost anywhere on a website. Starting out already knowing that a company can provide the desired type of work is faster and easier than to randomly call those that show up on search engine results.

Starting the process with highly qualified agencies that are displaying the kind of design that is desired will always be much more convenient. Of course, cost, completion time frame, and other aspects must be considered as well which will eliminate some potential firms; however, it is very possible to find the right company with this approach and enough web surfing and viewing. Ask to see a portfolio to look at other completed designs to get a better impression of the firm’s overall abilities. Request client references for feedback on how the agency worked with the client, if work was completed within agreed deadlines, and if they were easily reachable with any correctable problems.

Determination and Fulfillment of Needs

Every business wants different goals for a website – and usually has budgeted an amount to achieve those goals. Some companies want – and are willing to pay for – comprehensive design services where the chosen firm handles every aspect of the process including writing content, finding images, and hosting. This type of client probably wants a firm that will handle ongoing services such as hosting, maintenance, SEO, and reputation management to name a few. Services such as this will require a design firm with many years of experience in all of these noted areas.

Beyond the basic services, some of the areas noted above should be closely examined to see if they are indeed desired goals for a website so that all important functions are included in the scope of the work. Of course, it would all need to be discussed with the designer to clarify a company’s goals and requirements. Any designer being considered should be willing to take the time to learn not just about website goals but a company’s business goals as well; it is also valuable for any internet marketing plan to know the targeted audience, services and/or products offered, and what type of user functionality should be included. A client should feel that the designer has a complete understanding of all of this so that the best internet design decisions are made from the very beginning of the project.

Above all, don’t get hung up on wanting a website to look exactly like another favorite one. Appearance is important but definitely not all of the equation to consider; the above points are really more important. Appearance is only one of the important factors along with being user-friendly, optimization and efficiency; this can be achieved when a client can work productively with a design firm on a continuing basis. When all of this is found and the professional relationship appears good, then business website goals are likely to be met!

Aftermath

Once your laptop is stolen, the likelihood of recovering anything from your loss is quite slim. Losing your laptop is devastating and quite costly when you consider the priceless photos, files and personal information you have stored, in addition to the expensive hardware.
*There is nothing that can prepare you for the feeling of loss and the dread that comes with knowing that your personal data is gone forever. While it is very inconvenient and can be very expensive to replace the laptop itself, NOTHING can replace the hours of hard work that is stored on your computer. – The UK Web Design Company
*”Three months after I lost my laptop and started rebuilding my files, I still have only one third of my data recovered,” says Ms. Gilbert. “It will be at least six months before I will reach full productivity, and I’ll never have everything back”. She lost sleep and spent countless anxious weeks worrying about client information and how she was going to stay on top of her projects. “I never want to go through it again,” says Gilbert. – Lessons in Data Loss: A Case Study, Data Deposit Box
*For personal computer users there are mp3 playlists, emails, personal photo albums, and other important files. For the professional computer user, the stakes are higher…perhaps it’s the accounting data for your company’s 3rd quarter earnings, the PowerPoint presentation you will be giving to the CEO on Thursday afternoon, or the proposal that needs to be sent to the European office A.S.A.P. There are some real horror stories about the financial impact to a corporation of having its entire five-year marketing plan stolen along with someone’s laptop. – The UK Web Design Company
*Dr Chetan Ruprai, 28, a specialist registrar in the maternity ward at York Hospital, is desperate to get her laptop back. The machine contains three years worth of painstaking medical research which cannot be replaced and is vital to her career. “This is very distressing and I will do anything to get it back” she said. – The Press, January 27, 2007
*I was out the cost of the laptop plus I had to redo 3 websites I built. Backups were stolen too. The theft of my laptop cost me thousands. – Personal blog post
*Of course I filed a police report, but I’ve already said goodbye to years and years worth of memories. Photos, videos, documents… some (very few) of which were backed up but most are now in the hands of a thief. – Personal blog post

Besides storing all your invaluable data, laptops also serve as an extremely important work, communication and entertainment tool. In our computer dependent society, it’s not surprising that victims of laptop theft often feel an immense sense of loss and anguish.
*Losing a laptop is a traumatic experience… I know it was a total disaster for me. All my email was gone, my photos from the Russia/Ukraine holiday, the new OKS features I wrote on the plane coming here, and so on. Of course, I was left without my slides for my meeting the next day, and with no laptop to conduct my course Wednesday-Friday. – Personal blog post
*After my laptop was stolen, I definitely had a good cry. There’s a feeling of depression perhaps and certainly futility. I miss the first computer that was truly mine. I liked that laptop! I’m missing my pictures and notes. I’m missing the Mac software I had figured out how to use. Without a computer, I can’t send email or blog. I can’t watch videos. Having my laptop stolen affected my lifestyle, my community, my mental and emotional wellbeing. I was mad that my family and I had to pay the price for someone else’s actions with both time and money… – Personal blog post
*You can steal my car, my money, my shoes, I don’t really care, but don’t steal my damn laptop! – Personal blog post
*Oh I had insurance. Insurance doesn’t cover weeks of modeling time done on my laptop, or a sketchbook nearly filled with drawings or notes. So as all the other architecture students are looking forward to a break from the studio, a time to spend with family at the dinner table enjoying Thanksgiving and in front of the TV enjoying football and beer, I look forward to 100 hours in front of a drafting table and a laptop borrowed from the school, drafting and CADing to my hearts content. Why me? Why now? What did I do to deserve this? – Personal blog post
*I’m a graduate Professional Writing student at USC. I write fiction, nonfiction and screenplays. As a result of the theft of my laptop, I lost some pieces I had written, I had to buy a new laptop, and I was pained emotionally because of the incident. I felt, and still feel very wronged, and taken. It makes me sick to know someone has my laptop with my personal files. – Personal blog post
*It was like you cut off my arm. I had my whole life on my laptop. Two novels, years of photos, work files, and more. Since I’m a full-time volunteer these days, I have no money to buy a new computer. – Personal blog post
*As I slept, someone entered the house and stole my laptop, backpack, wallet, cell phone, and iPod. All while I slept. My life revolves around that laptop and the loss is monumental to me. – Personal blog post
*Fortunately, whoever entered my abode and took my possessions didn’t kill or maim me. But the loss of my LIFE, which was entirely wrapped up in that laptop, is almost too much for me to bear. All day I’ve been making phone calls, leaning on good friends for support, and changing what passcodes I can in an attempt to thwart the upcoming identity theft, or whatever else the thief decides to do with my personal information. – Personal blog post

Small businesses might have the most to lose when a laptop goes missing. The loss of vital data such as client information, accounting records or business plans could all spell disaster for a small business.

*The day my laptop was stolen almost killed my business. The laptop can be replaced. However the loss of critical DATA was the biggest risk my business has ever faced. – The UK Web Design Company
*Users today store more mission-critical data than ever before, so a lost laptop is a huge issue for a small business owner. In total, 7 out of 10 small businesses go bankrupt within a year of experiencing a major data loss. – Lessons in Data Loss: A Case Study, Data Deposit Box

As seen in the news recently, even large companies such as Boeing and Fidelity are not immune to theft. Both have had laptops stolen from employees that contained very critical data pertaining to hundreds of thousands of people, putting these innocent victims at risk for identity theft, credit card fraud and a slew of other dangers.
*”2006: The Year of the Stolen Laptop” – Forbes, September 7, 2006
*Boeing disclosed that files containing Social Security numbers, names and home addresses of 382,000 current and former employees were compromised when an unencrypted laptop was stolen from an employee’s car. – MSNBC, December 13, 2006
*The University of California, Berkeley, is warning more than 98,000 people that the theft of a laptop from its graduate school admissions office has exposed their personal information. Files on the laptop contained names, dates of birth, addresses and Social Security numbers of 98,369 graduate students or graduate-school applicants. The files go back three decades in some cases. – CNN, March 28, 2005
*Financial services giant Fidelity Investments confirmed that a laptop containing the personal information of almost 200,000 Hewlett-Packard employees was stolen from its property. – CNN, March 23, 2006
*Georgia-based Emory Healthcare reports that a laptop containing information on 38,000 of its patients was stolen. The missing laptop contained information on patients who had been treated for cancer at Emory Hospital, Emory Crawford Long Hospital, and Grady Memorial Hospital. The data included names, addresses and Social Security numbers.
The theft of patients’ medical records is a growing concern, particularly as these records can be used to engage in “medical identity theft”. Thieves can use stolen identities not only to obtain credit and loans, but to get expensive medical procedures that they might not have otherwise been able to afford, running up thousands in debt in the process.
Patients who have been hit with medical identity theft can find their insurance premiums skyrocketing, and can face large medical bills for procedures they never had. – ConsumerAffairs.com, January 8, 2006

Without a doubt laptop theft is a real concern, but you can minimise the risk by using one of the secure laptop bags with built-in anti-theft features that are available from Pacsafe. They have models available for both men and women, if you are concerned about the risk of your laptop being stolen then take a look at the MetroSafe 300 Secure Laptop Case.

Are You Leaving A cookie Trail On The Net

Are you leaving a cookie trail on the net?

The answer is most probably yes. Many people enjoy the feeling of being anonymous when browsing the web but websites are getting smarter and in some ways sneakier when documenting and tracking online user and browsing information.

Personalised User Details:
Online advertisers might know more about you than you than you would like them to know. Targeted user-driven advertising is proving to be lucrative from of online marketing. Online security researchers have shown that when enter you real identity on one website, it becomes easier to identify you when you are entering another website on the Internet.

Nowadays most websites and especially social networking sites require users to provide their personal details when completing the registration process. Users are no longer allowed to use Pseudonyms and sites like Facebook will even go so far as to block users who are suspected of using pseudonyms. Most popular social networking sites offer free site registration and usage but there is a priceyour personal information.

Sharing information through Interlinking:
Facebook recently expanded their ability to track their online users by adding like icons to various sites on the web. This gives Facebook users insight into the browsing habits and site preferences of their Facebook friends. Other social networking sites are also finding ways of interlinking various accounts and streamlining information from multiple accounts. Facebook gives users the ability to link their Twitter profile with their Facebook profile so that a singular post on your Facebook page will simultaneously appear on your Twitter page. This interlinking strategy is one way in which sites can exercise greater control over their users while targeting advertisements more effectively.

But how exactly do websites do this? Well cookies are one way in which user information can be tracked. Cookies are temporary files, which saves and tracks user information from your browser. They are snippets of data that websites deposit on visitors computers so that returning visitor activity can be measured and recognized. Cookies enable companies to track movement on the Internet and reveal things about the users browsing habits.

What about user privacy?
In 2010, privacy experts discovered that a certain social networking site was sending information about its users to advertisers who also track user browsing through cookies. The site corrected this privacy leak but only after the issue received ample media exposure. Many companies are now able to track people as they move around the web and capture browsing histories.

This raises the question of whether or not the online custodians of user information will be responsible and discreet with the information they are entrusted with. We could to see a change in browsing habits when people realize that they do not have the level of browsing autonomy they once thought they had.

Professional Web Design Services Are They Worth The Cost

Professional web design services are facing a new competitor in the form of a more web-savvy consumer capable of developing their own website. This is seemingly evidenced by the thousands of different programs and companies that will allow a person to create and publish their own website for free. But as with most things in life, you get what you pay for; and free websites often come at a significant hidden, cumulative cost. Considering a professional web design service might ultimately save you money despite the initial costs.
Web Design: Functionality

There’s a lot more to designing a website than using a free software program and a cheap GoDaddy domain. If your site’s navigation and loading features aren’t configured correctly, search engines may penalize your site and human visitors will be likely to click away if they encounter any problems. Free website designs often have such flaws, although they may appear to work to an untrained webmaster.

Only a professional web design services company like Pittsburgh Web Design firm ProFromGo has the skills to ensure that the fundamental structure of your website is as efficient and appealing as possible. Additionally, the page loading, outgoing and inbound links, robots text and all navigation features may need updating from time to time. Having a professional monitor and fulfill these needs is essential for the long-term operation of your site.

Web Design: Search Engine Optimization

Even people with advanced HTML, PHP and other coding knowledge probably don’t know about search engine optimization or SEO. SEO refers to a set of critical strategies that must be employed in order to develop and drive organic traffic to a web site or web page. This is a highly specialized field that not all web design companies have experience in, but some design firms do. Without proper and ongoing optimization efforts, your site will almost certainly flounder and fail.

If you can find a firm that incorporates both web design and SEO right from the start, you’ve likely found a company that you’ll want to work with for a long time to come. Otherwise, you’ll need to hire a professional SEO firm.

Web Design: Content Development

The backbone of any website is its content: videos, articles, blog posts, games, opinions, press releases, jokes and other content of many different types are the reason why visitors go to websites in the first place. Writing your own page content is sometimes okay, but without incorporating the principle elements of both SEO and copywriting, your website will probably not perform well.

A professional web design firm understands that content is the most important part of a website and in most cases can help you develop content or create the content for you as part of the design process. As is the case with SEO and web design, if you can find a design firm that also develops content, you should consider yourself lucky.

Unfortunately, there are two major problems when it comes to web design today:

1.) Otherwise professional web design firms don’t understand the importance of SEO
2.) Site owners design their own sites using inferior tools and without an understanding of internet marketing principles

If you’re looking for a complete web design package, then you need a company that can build a stunning and flawlessly functioning website, stock it with brilliant content and optimize the hell out of it to ensure that relevant visitors will find it. Finding a company that provides this level of comprehensive services while maintaining consistent quality is hard to find, but they’re out there.

SEO Friendly Web Design

Many people view SEO and web design as two entirely unrelated business website components. However, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. In fact, expert designer and optimizer Chris Vendilli, founder of Pittsburgh web design company ProFromGo, recently counseled a group of small business owners looking to expand their online business:

“SEO must be integrated into the web design process long before you ever begin to build the site. These are not mutually exclusive website aspects and in fact one without the other is a very poor strategy for any business owner, ultimately resulting in an abysmal ROI.”

Vendilli would know – his company is one of the few professional Pittsburgh web design services that have integrated SEO into web development right from the start. According to Vendilli, there are a minimum of 6 critical aspects of web design that must incorporate SEO in order to be effective:

Domain

Exact-match domains often yield powerful SEO effects. When starting a new website, some savvy online businesses find a keyword or keyphrase that is relevant to their services or products and likely to convert well. Keywords that receive a large amount of traffic can then be used to purchase exact-match domains. However, another strategy that works well is to create a name that does not have any search history at all. For instance, websites like Yahoo, Google, Facebook and MySpace all use domains where there would be no “naturally occurring” competition for search terms. To clarify, if you make up the domain snausoodle.com to sell your product, Sausage Doodles, you’ll probably automatically rank on page one for that term. This is the drawback with exact-match domains – there is the possibility that you’ll compete with naturally occurring search terms.

Keywords

In the online world, keywords are everything. They are the primary way that people look for information, products and services, and they are the primary language that search engines speak in. If you’re working with a web design firm that isn’t concerned about integrating your keywords into the design process, you may be working with the wrong company. Keywords must be properly optimized into nearly every aspect of your website, including all tags and titles, descriptions, alternate text, copy and content.

Navigation

If your site is not easy to navigate you’ll experience a high bounce rate and a lack of indexation. Search engines take this into account when determining where to rank your website in the search results. Therefore navigation is just as critical to the design process of a website as it is to the SEO.

Page Layout

Your site must be user friendly. If it’s not, your bounce rate will increase and your traffic will suffer. A website must be optimized for the reader. This means that it cannot simply consist of huge blocks of unbroken text or be cluttered with images and calls to action. There must be a logical flow to the pages and text, graphics and call outs must be placed where appropriate.
